The President of the Senate Health Committee, Adrian Streinu-Cercel, stated that there is currently a „leak” of personnel from the state healthcare system to the private one.
He said that the manner in which private activity will be carried out in the state sector will make it possible for private health insurance to emerge.
„The way in which private activity will be carried out in the state sector will make it possible for private health insurance to appear. Because at the moment there is a drain of personnel from the state to the private sector and it is not ok. Then, we have a technical factor that in many places is very well developed. That technical factor must be within reach of those who wish to do, after office hours, private activity in state units.. (…) The quality of the medical act will increase considerably”, said the chairman of the commission at the conference „Health – a social component that has become a field of national security”, organized by cursdeguvernare.ro.
Adrian Streinu-Cercel pointed out that, although the current legislation currently provides that the patient can choose their doctor, this is not the case, but private insurance will give the patient the opportunity to make an appointment with the doctor they want.
„We have in the current legislation the possibility for the patient to choose their doctor. It doesn’t really work that way. And in the system I showed you, if the patient wants to go to a specific doctor, then the private insurance will give them the possibility to set up an appointment with that person,” Adrian Streinu-Cercel also stated.
