Acting President Ilie Bolojan signed several decoration decrees on Wednesday, including the one for the award of the Faithful Service National Order in the rank of Officer to former chairman of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Elmar Brok, as a sign of „high appreciation for his special contribution to the consolidation of Romanian-German relations, as well as for the important role he played in the process of Romania’s accession to the European Union and, subsequently, for the deepening of Romania’s integration with European structures,” the Presidential Administration said.
Also, in a sign of „high appreciation for the exceptional services rendered to the Romanian state in consolidating Romanian-German relations, by actively promoting the rights of national minorities, diversity and intercultural dialogue, for his role as liaison at social, cultural, economic and political levels, as well as for his entire legislative activity aimed at combating anti-Semitism, supporting Holocaust survivors and promoting European values in the fields of culture and education”, President Ilie Bolojan conferred the Star of Romania National Order in the rank of Knight on deputy Ovidiu-Victor Gant, secretary of the Chamber of Deputies and representative of the German minority in the Romanian Parliament.
Priest Isidor Iacovici, episcopal vicar for diaspora priests, was decorated with the Cultural Merit Order in the rank of Knight, Category G – „Denominations”, in appreciation for his „special merits as national coordinator for the pastoral care of Romanian Catholics of Latin rite in the Italian Republic, contributing to the deepening of unity and solidarity among the faithful.”
In appreciation for his „special merits in reinforcing and diversifying bilateral relations, through the organization of economic missions and business forums, as well as for the contribution made to improving Romania’s image in the Republic of Turkey and the active support of the Romanian community in this country”, the head of state conferred the Industrial and Commercial Merit Order in the rank of Officer on Ahmet Semih Beken, honorary consul of Romania to the Province of Antalya.
