The first regional electric train built by a Polish manufacturer for Romania will be presented in Oradea during the Rolling Stock Conference organized by Club Feroviar on May 21 and 22.
According to the organizer, Polish rolling stock producer PESA Bydgoszcz will display in Oradea the first short-distance electric train of a total of 62 ordered by the Romanian Railway Reform Authority (ARF).
„This is a landmark moment for the entire national railway industry and a unique opportunity for all those interested in the modernization of railway transport. The train is in an advanced stage of construction at Poland’s PESA factory, and on May 22 it will be officially presented in Romania during the conference, by PESA CEO Krzysztof Zdziarski,” the website clubferoviar.ro states.
The Polish manufacturer is the winner of an ARF tender for 62 short-distance passenger trains, with the delivery being divided into three lots:
– Lot 1 – 20 short-distance electric trains that will service the routes Bucharest N – Ploiesti S – Adjud, Iasi – Pascani – Suceava, Bacau – Pascani, worth between an estimated RON 1,044,933,546 and RON 1,339,823,526, VAT excluded;
– Lot 2 – 23 short-distance electric trains that will service the routes Brasov – Gheorgheni, Arad – Timisoara – Caransebes, Huedin – Cluj – Bistrita, worth between an estimated RON 1,208,571,156 and RON 1,554,592,210, VAT excluded;
– Lot 3 – 19 short-distance electric trains that will service the routes Bucharest N – Ploiesti V – Brasov, Bucharest N – Rosiori, Bucharest N – Bucharest Obor/Fundulea, Constanta – Fetesti, worth between an estimated RON 984,207,051 and RON 1,255,872,715, VAT excluded.
For the Romanian railway industry, this moment means a concrete step towards the modernization of the regional rail transport, as well as a signal of international cooperation between manufacturers, authorities and operators, Club Feroviar said.
The event is organized with the support of the Association of Romania’s Railway Engineers (AIFR), the Railway Reform Authority (ARF), Railway Career in Romania (CFiR), the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest and the Technical Civil Engineering University in Bucharest, the Resita Urban Transportation Company, CTP Cluj, the Oradea Local Transportation Company and the Oradea City Hall, in media partnership with National news Agency AGERPRES, Railway PRO, Transylvania Business, Railway Gazette and Jurnalul de Afaceri.
