EU membership has meant, for Romania, a transformation for the better, which has generated two decades of unprecedented economic growth, has unlocked essential financing for infrastructure and has created opportunities that once seemed unattainable, according to a press release from the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania).
„Congratulations, Europe, on your 75th anniversary! Today, May 9, we celebrate Europe Day – a moment dedicated to commemorating the 75th anniversary of Robert Schuman’s visionary declaration, which laid the foundations for peace, unity and cooperation in post-war Europe. His words did not just inspire the creation of the European Union; they ignited a movement based on solidarity and common goals across borders. It is a moment of reflection – on the values that unite us as Europeans: solidarity, mutual respect, cooperation and freedom. These are not just ideals. They represent the pillars of the European Union and continue to shape our collective future. For Romania, EU membership has meant a transformation for the better. It has generated two decades of unprecedented economic growth, unlocked essential funding for infrastructure and created opportunities that were once seemed unattainable. In the face of current fiscal challenges, European integration – not isolation – offers a sustainable way forward, without placing an excessive burden on citizens or businesses,” the message emphasizes.
The organization notes that in the current geopolitical climate, with war on the border, solidarity is not optional – it is essential. And with Romania’s recent accession to the Schengen area, the value of freedom of movement becomes even more tangible and significant.
„We, AHK Romania, are proud to support and strengthen the dynamic and ever-growing economic partnership between Germany and Romania. This partnership proves a simple truth: together we are stronger than the sum of our parts. We support a united, resilient and future-oriented Europe. And we wish Germany, Romania and the European Union much success on this common journey. Happy Europe Day!”, the press release reads.
