Maramures and Bucovina were among the Romanians’ most sought-after Easter break destinations, shows a survey by booking platform Travelminit.ro.
„With spectacular landscapes, authentic traditions and customs, Romania’s two northern regions continue to attract hundreds of tourists annually. Approximately 41% of the survey respondents chose Maramures or Bucovina, driven by the desire to relax, attend Easter service and enjoy rich meals with local cuisine. Many Romanians also chose Transylvania, the Prahova Valley and the Danube Delta for this period. The increased demand for these destinations also reflected on the occupancy rates of the local accommodation units,” the Travelminit.ro release states.
According to the survey, 54% of tourists are willing to spend between RON 200 and 400 for a night’s stay in a double room. In contrast, 24% are willing to pay less than RON 200, and 12% choose the more pricey options, between RON 400 and 600.
Hotel owners said that this year the average price for a 2-night package/double room during the Easter period (breakfast included) is between RON 500 and 800, 48% of the surveyed hoteliers said. Also, 38% said that the average price is under RON 500.
Most Romanians participating in the survey said they prefer to have a festive meal included in their Easter package.
For this year’s Easter holiday, the types of locations chosen vary from guesthouses to chalets and holiday homes to three, four or five star hotels. In this regard, some 37% of the respondents opted for guesthouses, while hotels were the second most preferred accommodation establishments, followed by chalets or holiday homes.
The price remains the main deciding factor, mentioned by 65% of tourists, followed by location and cleanliness.
The survey was conducted based on the responses of over 500 tourists and representatives of accommodation establishments in Romania and reflects travel trends for the 2025 Easter break.
