The Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests (MEWF) has launched the selection procedure for filling five member positions on the Board of Directors of the National Forestry Agency – Romsilva, the institution announced on Wednesday.
According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, the selection will be carried out in accordance with the principles of corporate governance established by GEO no. 109/2011 and related legislation, reflecting the institution’s commitment to professional, responsible and transparent management within public enterprises.
„This approach represents an essential step in the process of structural reform of Romsilva, which we initiated this year. We want a Board of Directors that will actively contribute to the modernization of management, the consolidation of decision-making transparency and the streamlining of activities at all levels, from the center to the structures in the territory. At the center of this process remain the professionals dedicated to the forest, who will have the necessary support to carry out their activity in the best conditions. Romsilva must become an example of good governance, economic efficiency and responsibility towards Romania’s natural heritage,” declared the Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests, Mircea Fechet, in the cited press release.
The selection criteria are aligned with international standards and include: competences relevant to the forestry sector, strategic and professional experience, knowledge of corporate governance, social and leadership skills, as well as proven integrity. Also, any incompatibilities provided for by law for holding public office are taken into account, the press release states.
