Calea Victoriei becomes pedestrianized on Saturday and Sunday, in the context of the „Open Streets” event, which offers visitors magic and animation shows, origami workshops, collector’s cars and an Irina Sarbu concert.
On Saturday, from 14:00, the public is invited to the exhibition „Made in Romania”, organized by the Retromobil Club Romania Association, a „spectacular” selection of civilian cars produced between 1957 and 1990, according to a press release sent on Friday by ARCUB.
Also on Saturday, between 17:00 and 21:00, the pedestrian route will be illuminated between the National Art Museum of Romania and the National Military Circle, where the National Scouting organization of Romania will prepare the Festival of Lights.
„The curbstones of the boulevard will be illuminated by hundreds of pedestrian lanterns, in a symbolic route of discovery and creativity. The public of all ages is invited to participate in educational and creative outdoor workshops in a friendly and interactive atmosphere,” the cited source mentions.
The magic show „MAGITOT sunt eu”, by the Romanian Playwrights Theater will take place on Sunday, from 18:00, on the sidewalk of the National Museum of Art.
At the same time, in the area of the Kretzulescu Church, the public is expected to see the show „Freestyle Puppetry”, a production of the Tandarica Animation Theater. Between 17:00 and 19:00, children are invited to two creative workshops: a spring workshop coordinated by the artist Camelia Andrita and an origami workshop led by Stefan Hotnog.
The weekend ends with a concert by Irina Sarbu on Sunday, from 18:00, on the esplanade of the National Military Circle.
The program of the event is complemented by the permanent thematic exhibitions in the garden and interior of the Filipescu-Cesianu House, offered by the Bucharest Municipal Museum: from visual fragments of recent history in „Diary of Life. Young Talents 2025” to anthropological incursions through the „Museum of Ages” or evocations of the frescoes of the Vacaresti Monastery, which was demolished by the communist regime four decades ago.
The project „Open Streets – Bucharest, Urban Promenade” is organized by the Bucharest City Hall, through ARCUB – Cultural Centre of Bucharest, in partnership with PROEDUS and with the support of local cultural institutions and independent organizations.
