Romanian entrepreneurs are the „true models of growth” that our economy must follow, declared Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, who emphasized that for him and his party colleagues „the support for Romanian companies continues to be a strategic priority”.
The prime minister is participating on Friday evening, in Timisoara, in the Business Excellence Gala – Top companies from Timis county.
„I am glad to be able to send a message from the Government of Romania to all the entrepreneurs present here. It is, I think, an absolutely necessary gesture towards the work and results of Romanian entrepreneurs. Because our entrepreneurs are the true growth models that must let our economy follow them. What I can assure you is that, for me and my party colleagues, supporting Romanian companies continues to be a strategic priority!”, said Marcel Ciolacu.
He emphasized that in the governing program of the PSD for the period 2024-2028, a substantial chapter is dedicated to solutions to support the activity of SMEs, because from the point of view of the social democrats „this is the right way for the country’s economy to grow develop healthy”.
Ciolacu added that in PSD’s view, public investments mean not only the money allocated for infrastructure – roads, hospitals and schools, but equally important are those made „in Romanian people and companies, in the human capital of Romania”.
„Investments in energetic and daring people capable of becoming, like you, business champions. That’s why we want to invest billions of euros annually in the business ideas you have. We have already managed to invest this year, despite everything problems, almost 7% of the Romanian economy and in the Romanian entrepreneurial companies, especially in SMEs. And we want to continue this pace in the following years, because these are the years of maximum development of Romania. We have a clear plan to use billions of euros from European and national funds to capitalize on the extraordinary potential of Romanian private companies. We want to build an entire ecosystem in which entrepreneurs and new technologies produce a huge qualitative leap in the economy!” said Ciolacu.
The prime minister emphasized that Timis County is an area of strategic importance for Romania’s economy, which is why, in the last year, the Government started large investments in this region, recognizing its major contribution to the state budget and its right to development.
„We brought investments in Timis because we understood that this county deserves and needs support to continue its economic growth. And I want to remind you of some of the major projects that we are developing here: the Timisoara-Moravita Highway and the Ring Road of Timisoara, aimed at reducing traffic and improving trade in the region. (…) We talked about the Oncological Institute, which will offer high-quality medical services and become a center of excellence in the treatment of cancer , essential project for the improvement of medical services, the modern stadium, which will host large-scale sports events and will contribute to the development of local sports,” said Ciolacu.
He added that he would continue to support this region in the future.
In this context, the prime minister emphasized that, together with the European Commission, it was decided that „taxes will not increase in Romania in 2025”.
„They have only one request from us, to be, from this moment on, serious and predictable. This decision is meant to support the business environment and encourage investments, thus ensuring a stable and predictable economic climate”, declared Ciolacu.
In conclusion, the prime minister expressed his consideration and respect for the way the businesspeople in Timis County have developed the companies they lead.
