Romanian boxer Amalia Nita on Wednesday advanced to the quarterfinals of the middle category at the IBA Women’s Boxing World Championships in Nis, Serbia, after beating Turkish Yaren Buztas on points (4-3).
In the quarterfinals, Nita will meet Russian Anastasia Amonova.
In the minimum category, compatriot Ramona Manea lost by technical knockout in the third round (RSC) in the round of 16 to North Korean boxer Kyong Ryong Hong.
Stela Roxana Hamza was defeated on points (0-5) by Uzbek Feruza Kazakova in the fly category.
In today’s quarterfinals, two more Romanians will enter the ring: Crinuta Andra Nicoleta Sebe in the welter category versus Serbian Anastasija Lukajic, and Maria Cimpoieru versus Russian Saltanat Medenova in the light heavy category.
