The Romanian tennis players Victor Cornea and Alexandru Jecan, in different pairs, qualified on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the doubles event within the challenger tournament in Maia (Portugal), with total prizes of 120,950 euros.
Cornea and the Dutchman Mick Veldheer, the number three seeds, won 6-3, 6-2 against the Portuguese couple Francisco Rocha/Henrique Rocha, in 57 minutes.
In the quarterfinals, Cornea and his partner will face another Portuguese pair, Joao Silva/Tiago Silva.
In another first-round match, Jecan and the Italian Giorgio Ricca beat the number four seeds, Marco Bortolotti (Italy)/David Pel (Netherlands), 7-5, 7-6 (7/4), after an hour and 43 of minutes.
The pairs qualified in the quarterfinals secured 1,420 euros each and 20 ATP doubles points.
