Two foreign citizens were put in pre-trial detention for carrying out illegal operations to distribute and sell high-risk doping substances, the Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) informed on Wednesday in a release.
Prosecutors of the DIICOT Cluj Territorial Service ordered on Tuesday the remand in custody of two foreign citizens who are being investigated for their involvement in the illegal circulation of high-risk doping substances and products containing such substances; one of them was also charged with the crime of illegal possession of dangerous drugs for self-consumption.
The criminal prosecution documents show that between 2023 – 2024, the defendants procured, held and sold in repeated instances high-risk doping substances, shipping the products both in the country and abroad through to courier service. It emerged from the collected evidence that one of the defendants sent 240 parcels to clients, the statement reads.
Following 6 searches conducted in Bucharest and Ilfov County, 1,035 tubes and 768 vials with high-risk doping substances were found and seized, as well as 10 kilograms of ostarine tablets, 15 kilograms of raw material for the manufacture of doping substances, 985 somatropin vials, 5,200 tablets containing doping substances, 39 boxes with packaging, caps and packaging containers, over 5,000 tubes, 19 boxes containing labels and packaging rolls, and 2 pharmaceutical-type mechanical devices intended for the production and packaging of substances, the investigators show.
Also, DIICOT said that 33,510 euros and 7,000 lei, various documents, as well as other evidence were seized.
The Cluj Tribunal judge of rights and freedoms ordered on Tuesday the pre-trial detention of the two for 30 days, the prosecutors mention.
